In The Know: Sharm el Sheikh

Around thirty years ago Sharm el Sheikh was just a small fishing village on the Red Sea's coastline in Egypt. Fast forward to present day and it is totally devoted to tourism. Holidays in Egypt are very popular thanks to the year round climate, the excellent hotels, great beaches, fantastic value for money and diving opportunities.

Over the past ten to fifteen years Sharm el Sheikh has seen a massive rise in tourist numbers and has become one of the most popular places for a holiday in Egypt. Flights to Sharm are now available from many UK airports and even the low cost carriers such as easyJet and Jet2.com are offering direct flights.

Holidays in Naama Bay are the most popular ones in Sharm. Naama Bay has developed into a thriving resort with lots of shops, bars and restaurants as well as lively music bars and clubs. One of the newest and most modern resort areas is Sharks Bay. There are many top quality hotels being developed here and the area has a new centre with a handful of classy bars and restaurants.

As with many resorts on the Red Sea there is lots of new hotels opening all the time, many in the 4 & 5 star range. Many hotels in Sharm offer all inclusive holidays that offer great value, however if you prefer to eat out there is plenty of choice from fast food to traditional Egyptian or international favourites. Holidays in Sharm have something for everyone.
